I have been wanting to learn how to knit for quite awhile now, but just haven't gotten my shiz together enough to actually do it. Well, now that I am having this little groundhog baby, I figured why not now? It will give me something to do while watching TV in the evenings instead of compulsively surfing the web (not that I do that). Plus I thought it would be nice to knit the little bugger his/her first baby blankey (I know, insert cutesy puke noises here). I am SOOO not crafty or artsy, so guaranteed it will be awful, but everyone will be so afraid of my volatile hormones they will tell me what a natural talent I am and beg me for lots and lots of scarves and mittens. For reals. Just wait. As a matter of fact, put your orders in now, disbelievers!
I actually ended up signing up for two courses; beginning knitting on Tuesdays for 4 weeks, and beginning crochet on Thursdays, also for 4 weeks. I used to know how to crochet many years ago thanks to my late Grandma Mickey, but can't remember how any more. I was super excited to begin my nesting process, and Mr Wonk was looking forward to some alone time in the evenings with the Wii. Win/win! Then I get the phone calls, one right after the other. The knitting class is postponed until August because the instructor is on "vacation." Selfish cow. Then, I get the call from the crochet class. That class is postponed a week, but might also be cancelled because they need just ONE MORE PERSON to sign up. Seriously?!? I called today about the crochet class, and still no new enrollees. Bummer. I still have my hopes up. Regardless, I will learn how to do knit and crochet, just later rather than sooner. Patience, Wonk, patience. In the meantime I am going to focus on trying to find a good yoga class to take after work. I have been doing yoga at home with my Wii Fit and that really helps my achiness, but I really want to get back into the studio for a real workout.
